Koh Samet
Koh Samet is an Island with very beautiful beaches and clear water. It is an international tourist destination and the whole year frequently visited.
Ko Samet is part of the "Khao Laem Ya - Mu Ko Samet" national park with other small islands around.
The Samet Archipelago includes after the largest and the only inhabited island Koh Samet also the following small islands: Koh Kudi, Koh Kruai, Ko Makham, Koh Plai Tin, Koh Chan, Koh Talu, Koh Klet Chalam, and Koh Thai Khang Kao.
All islands can be visited from Ban Phe.
Foreigners entering in the national park have to pay an entrance fee of 200 THB which is normally valid for 1 month.
Suan Son beach
1 Km outside of Ban Phe (direction east) starts this beach. A pine forest up to the sea gives this beach a unique atmosphere. The first section (driving east) of this beautiful beach is without shops or restaurants and you can easily find a calm place. After approximately 2 KM of quiet the entertainment area starts with restaurants, bars and small shopping.
On week days this area is quit calm. On weekends or public holidays it is a zone of entertainment mainly for residents from Bangkok and surrounding.
Hat Maerampung beach
5 Km outside of Ban Phe (direction west) starts this beach and it is one of the most beautiful beaches of the mainland from the region of Rayong.
Various Resorts and Hotels are located close to the beach. Some very high condominiums show that this beach is developing.
On week days this area is quit calm. On weekends or public holidays it is a zone of entertainment mainly for residents from Bangkok and surrounding.
Between Hat Maerampung beach and Ban Phe
Between Hat Maerampung beach and Ban Phe starts already the first part of the Koh Samet National Park. This is a small hilly area with an exotic coast with stones and small beaches.
There is a road going in the park after approximately 500m you leave the Hat Maerampung beach in direction of Ban Phe.
Rayong Aquarium (5 Km)
The " Eastern Marine Fisheries Research and Development Centre" is situated in Ban Phe as a publicly accessible aquarium with many marine animals from the Gulf of Bangkok.
